Things to See and Do in Blackball and the West Coast
- Go into the old mine's ventilation chimney.
- Visit the Blackball Salami Shop. You can try some samples and then buy what you like.
- Blackball Bling and Kereru Crafts offer some handmade west coast goodies!
- Visit the Working Class History Museum next door.
- Tramp the Croesus track from Blackball to Barrytown or stay overnight at the Ces Clark or Garden Gully hut.
- Explore the tunnels under the town. You'll need a torch and gumboots.
- Go up the Moonlight Vallery (4WD required).
- View the old mine managers house/Blackball Community Centre (which is recorded as the South Islands most haunted building). You can park your camper van there too.
- See the gold dredge, the biggest in the southern hemisphere.
