Built in 1910 Formerly the Blackball Hilton has a long and fascinating history, with some legendary parties thrown in too! 

This ‘old school’ style pub is an historic hotel which has been kept in as close to original condition so that you can experience staying in a hotel with it’s original flair.
Here you will be able to meet the locals, other visitors, get lost in the history and enjoy your favourite drink!
Its central location makes it an ideal base to explore the rest of the Coast!

A Blackball History Lesson

Blackball, at first, was a base for transitory gold seekers. But from 1893 a more settled community developed with the coal mine’s opening. The school opened in 1895 and was apparently well overdue as the headmaster had to prise the unruly older boys from the trees surrounding the school before he could begin his day’s teaching.
